Jens Moje, Managing Director and shareholder of Reederei Elbdeich has announced his withdrawal from the operational business.
Despite the sale of his company shares, he will remain associated with the shipping company as an investor. “The decision to retire was not an easy one for me, but I am convinced that now is the right time,” explained Moje. “The markets are strong and the Elbdeich Group has achieved record results in recent years. The shipping industry is changing, but Elbdeich is well equipped to successfully navigate this change thanks to its dedicated and loyal employees and a clear strategy. As an investor, I will continue to accompany and support the development of the shipping company.”
Moje joined Elbdeich in 2006
Elbdeich was founded in 2004 by the shipowners Heinz Moje, Peter Frese and other partners. Jens Moje joined shortly after the company was founded in 2006. With a clear growth strategy and strong partnerships, the company has since developed into a permanent fixture in the feeder shipping industry.
Today, the shipping company operates a modern fleet of 33 ships and employs 35 people at the Barnkrug site as well as over 500 people at sea.
The highlights of 2024 include the commissioning of the 5,500 TEU flagship “ZIM Yangtze”, which was christened in Korea in February, and the successful completion of a newbuilding program of six low-emission 1,380 TEU container ships, which culminated in the christening of the “Elbinsel” in the port of Bützfleth near the company headquarters in October. Prior to this, the ships “Elbbridge” and “Elbtower” were delivered in September.
