Kaiko Systems, an AI-based platform for maritime operations, has entered into a partnership with LNG shipping operator TMS Cardiff Gas.
The aim is to integrate this technology into the entire fleet and, at the same time, optimise crew readiness for SIRE (Ship Inspection Report) 2.0 inspections.
One of the major challenges for shipowners and managers is to ensure that every crew member – regardless of their role or location – can effectively participate in the preparations for SIRE inspections. There is always a risk of uneven understanding or lack of preparation within the team, which could affect the overall outcome of the inspection, Kaiko Systems said.
Ensuring compliance with the new standards
With stricter and more performance-oriented inspection processes, TMS Cardiff wanted to enable its teams to independently assess their preparation, promote accountability and ensure compliance with the new standards. Kaiko Systems’ web-based application, with its user-friendly interface and comprehensive questionnaire, met the company’s key objectives of optimising pre-inspection preparation processes and boosting crew confidence.
By deploying the technology across its fleet of 18 vessels, Cardiff Gas will have an accessible platform where each crew member can review and answer the multiple-choice questionnaires independently of the others – an approach that promotes a culture of shared responsibility and preparation.
“We are delighted to be working with the team at TMS Cardiff Gas. As one of the leading providers of services to the oil and gas industry, the company is at the forefront of ensuring safety and accountability across its fleet,” Fabian Fussek, co-founder and CEO of Kaiko Systems. “Kaiko Systems will continue to promote continuous learning and accountability among crew, contributing to long-term skill development while reducing the likelihood of deficiencies or compliance issues during inspections.”
Insights into areas of improvement enable targeted training
Alexandros Politis-Kalenteris, Deputy COO at TMS Cardiff Gas, commented on the integration of Kaiko Systems into the fleet: “We were pleasantly surprised by how quickly the crew adapted to the system and embraced it as an important tool for their professional development.” The intuitive design of the Kaiko platform, combined with the system’s focus on individual accountability and analytical capabilities, provided valuable insight into areas of improvement, enabling targeted training and reducing our risk of inspection failures. “Ultimately, we see Kaiko Systems as a valuable solution to maintain the high standards of our fleet and ensure its competitiveness in the market.”
By integrating Kaiko Systems into its existing fleet, TMS Cardiff Gas aims to increase operational efficiency by optimising preparation for SIRE inspections and significantly reducing the time and resources required for manual inspections and training.
