The Norwegian liner shipping company Arctic Container Line is doubling its departures between the German ports of Bremerhaven and Hamburg to Norway.
Arctic Line is one of the rather small shipping companies with regular services, and its ships are also small. However, a few days ago a second ship was added to the service between the German seaports and the Norwegian destinations of Tananger, Haugesund, Bergen, Maloy, Alesund and Orkanger.
The 384 TEU “Arctic Commander” joins the “Rumba” (657 TEU), which is almost twice as large as the one already in operation. This means that in future there will be a departure from Hamburg every five days instead of every ten days as previously.
Arctic Line has been operating for two years
The shipping company introduced this round trip between Germany and Norway exactly two years ago, supplementing the Rotterdam-Norway service, which was introduced five months earlier as the first liner service between Rotterdam and the ports on the Norwegian west coast.
Arctic Container Line was founded as a subsidiary of Myklebusthaug Management AS, a Norwegian shipowner and operator of container ships, bulkers, offshore support vessels and barges. The company currently operates 13 container ships with a capacity of between 200 TEU and 850 TEU.
