Methanol bunker fuel delivery in South Florida

World Fuel Services offers methanol bunkering in the USA

The US authorities have given the green light: The bunker service provider World Fuel Services can now provide methanol as fuel in the country’s ports.

Together with the company West Coast Clean Fuels, a methanol bunkering system was developed in US ports – and has already been successfully tested. In South Florida, “a safe, scalable and compliant solution was demonstrated that is ready for nationwide deployment,” World Fuel Services announced.

Shipowners can now access a fully operational bunkering facility with US Coast Guard-approved procedures, trained personnel and specially designed equipment. West Coast Clean Fuels is reportedly currently the only operator in the US whose truck-to-ship process has been given the green light by the authorities.

“Our processes have not only met the regulatory requirements, but actively helped shape them. The implementation of this collaboration with World Fuel is just the milestone that proves we are ready to offer methanol bunkering at U.S. ports,” said Matt Campbell, Chief Technical Officer of West Coast Clean Fuels. The company is now ready to meet the demand for methanol bunkering “throughout the United States”.
