The Norwegian shipbuilding company Vard, a subsidiary of Fincantieri, has handed over a new Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV), the “Norwind Maestro”, to Norwind Offshore and Navigare Capital ahead of schedule.
The vessel with the construction number “NB 982” was completed at Vard Søviknes in Norway and will now be deployed in the offshore wind market under the Norwegian flag.
The order for the newbuild was signed in October 2024 with Navigare Capital in close cooperation with Norwind Offshore. It is the fifth newbuild delivered by Vard for Norwind Offshore.
The ship is based on the “Vard 4 19” design. The hull was built at Vard Shipyards Romania in Braila, while outfitting, commissioning and delivery were carried out in Norway. According to the parties involved, the project underlines the Group’s integrated value chain with cross-location production.
The CSOV’s equipment includes the “SeaQ Integrated Bridge” system from Vard Electro as well as digital systems for monitoring energy consumption and hybrid energy systems. Seaonics supplied an all-electric lifting and handling package with a 30 m walk-to-work gangway and a 7 t 3D-compensated crane. The interiors, HVAC-R and piping systems were supplied by Vard Interiors.
“The early delivery of ‘NB 982’ is a clear demonstration of how our integrated value chain and close collaboration with the customer creates real added value. From design and hull construction to system integration, interior fit-out and commissioning, our teams and subsidiaries have worked seamlessly across countries to deliver a fully equipped CSOV. We appreciate Norwind Offshore’s trust and are proud to support their offshore wind activities with reliable deliveries and strong execution,” said Vard CEO Cathrine Marti.
