TS Lines orders next series of four

The Taiwanese shipping company TS Lines is continuing to expand its fleet: Four more container ships will soon be sailing for the company’s inner-Asian services.

TS Lines has signed a contract with the Fujian Mawei shipyard in China to build four new container ships. The units will each have a capacity of 2,900 TEU and are expected to cost a total of USD 168.6 million. Delivery is planned from May 2029.

TS Lines, which specializes in intra-Asia routes, is thus further expanding its feeder fleet. The order follows two similar vessels that were ordered in November 2025 – again built by Fujian Mawei. They are scheduled for delivery in mid and late 2028. This brings the shipping company’s total order to six ships.

TS Lines has already had ships built by the Chinese shipyard in the past. In 2021, the shipping company launched a comprehensive newbuilding program: eight feeders of 1,100 TEU each and six ships of 2,900 TEU were built at Fujian Mawei, the shipyard’s largest container ship project at the time. The ships were delivered by 2024.

In addition to the new feeder vessels, TS Lines also has larger ships in its order book. Four box carriers, each with a capacity of 5,300 TEU, are being built at the Huangpu Wenchong shipyard. The order has a total value of USD 245 million. The shipping company had already ordered two similar ships in September 2024.

TS Lines is in 20th place in the global ranking of container shipping companies, just ahead of RCL and Emirates Shipping Line. The company’s fleet comprises 41 ships, with a total capacity of around 108,000 TEU. The order book currently contains 16 newbuildings that will be delivered over the next few years; the planned growth is almost 100,000 TEU – meaning that TS Lines will almost double its capacity in future.
