SETH presents marine energy systems for decarbonisation

At SMM 2026, CSSC Ship Electric Technology (Wuxi) Co., Ltd. (SETH) will present its latest marine electrification solutions, focusing on sustainable power systems for the decarbonisation of shipping.

Recognising the different operational requirements of today’s fleets, the company will showcase a range of marine energy systems designed to improve fuel efficiency and support compliance with environmental regulations.

The diesel-electric propulsion system (S-DE), already installed on 146 vessels, uses diesel generator sets to supply electrical power to propulsion motors. According to SETH, the system improves energy utilisation while reducing noise and enhancing manoeuvrability.

The shaft generator system (S-Shaft), with 597 vessel references, combines the main engine with an electrical machine and offers multiple operating modes. The company says the system can reduce fuel consumption during open-sea operation while supporting improvements in EEDI, EEXI and CII performance. It is suitable for both newbuild and retrofit projects.

For hybrid applications, the S-Renewable system has been installed on 93 vessels. By combining diesel engines with batteries, it enables different operating modes depending on operational requirements. Battery power can be used for silent operation and transits through emission control areas, reducing onboard noise and vibration. The system is intended for vessels with fluctuating power demand, including tugboats, pilot vessels, offshore support vessels and short-distance passenger and cargo ships.

SETH will also present its fully battery-powered S-Renewable system, which has been installed on 178 vessels. Designed for zero-emission operation, it supplies electrical power entirely from battery packs, eliminating emissions during coastal operations and port stays while also reducing noise and vibration.
