The Dutch heavy lift and shipping company Roll Group is expanding its presence in the North and South American market by opening a new branch in the USA.
A new project office and premises have now been opened in Saint Gabriel, Louisiana, according to Roll Group, which owns the shipping brands Rolldock and Bigroll, among others.
“This strategic expansion underscores our commitment to serving the Gulf Coast region with local expertise and fully integrated technical heavy lift and project logistics services,” it said in a statement.
By expanding its presence in the Americas, Roll Group aims to provide better and faster regional coverage to its customer base in the energy, petrochemical, infrastructure and industrial construction sectors.
In addition to a fleet of specialized vessels in the Deck Carrier, Heavylift, RoRo and FloFlo segments, the Dutch company has also recently started operating its own heavy-lift barges and various land-based facilities.
Roll Group is now a part of the community
The new facility has a 2,160 m² office and 3 hectares of parking/storage space, with access to a further 5 hectares for storage and maintenance work. The site provides access to industrial corridors in Louisiana and along the Mississippi River.
Louisiana is a critical link in North America’s energy infrastructure. The U.S. petroleum industry between Lake Charles and New Orleans is said to provide “a constant demand for safe, reliable and innovative engineered transportation and lifting services. By establishing a permanent office in the region, the company aims to position itself to combine land-based heavy haulage with sea transportation to reduce project complexity.
“We have always strived to serve the market as 10% of the petroleum industry is located between Lake Charles and New Orleans,” said Gary Summers, who has 45 years of industry experience and has been with Roll Group since the company’s inception in the US over ten years ago. “Now we’re not just serving the market, we’re local. We can be part of the community.”
