As part of its new port partnership, MSC presented itself at the Port of Hamburg this past weekend.
The shipping company organised a vibrant street festival featuring music and art. A special highlight of the event was the christening of the new LNG dual-fuel container vessel “MSC Germany”.
The MSC Yellow Festival took place on Saturday at Hamburg’s Landungsbrücken and along the Jan-Fedder Promenade. According to MSC, it was the largest public event in the company’s history.
The highlight of the day was the naming ceremony of the “MSC Germany” – the latest LNG dual-fuel ship in MSC’s fleet. The vessel was christened by Hamburg’s Senator for Economy and Innovation, Melanie Leonhard. Among the distinguished guests were Hamburg’s First Mayor Peter Tschentscher, Finance Senator Andreas Dressel, MSC CEO Soren Toft, and Nils Kahn, Managing Director of MSC Germany.
MSC reinforces commitment to Hamburg
According to the company, the festival was an opportunity to introduce MSC to the local community and celebrate its new partnership with the City of Hamburg. With its recent investment in Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), MSC aims to make a long-term commitment to the city. The collaboration is intended to modernise port infrastructure, attract additional cargo flows to Hamburg, and establish a new German headquarters in the HafenCity.
