Norka unveils new marine lighting solutions at SMM 2026

For almost 80 years, Norka has specialised in lighting solutions for demanding environmental conditions. At SMM 2026, the company will present a preview of its product portfolio for the maritime sector as it expands its activities into shipping and offshore applications.

Founded in 1948, the family-owned company, based in Hamburg and Dörverden-Hülsen, develops lighting solutions for technically demanding environments, including production halls, railway platforms, transport infrastructure, workshops, swimming pools and road tunnels. Norka products are also used in maritime applications such as jetties, locks, boat moorings and port facilities. The company’s luminaires are already in service on a number of small ferries and tugs.

“NORKA is renowned for its waterproof, robust luminaires with outstanding light quality. It seems only natural to us to expand our product portfolio into marine and offshore lighting and thereby tap into a new market segment,” says Florian Schönfeld, Managing Director Sales and Marketing at Norka.

At SMM, the company will present the flat linear luminaire „Genf“ with two swivelling reflectors, together with the „Bern Maritim“ and „Zug Maritim“ tubular luminaires, which have been adapted for maritime applications. In addition to water resistance, the luminaires are designed to provide corrosion resistance, vibration resistance and resistance to high temperatures. The DNV type approval process has been initiated for the „Bern“ and „Zug“ product range.

“With our ENEC and VDE certifications, we have already provided the majority of the evidence required for the type approval we are seeking, and we will also be able to meet and demonstrate compliance with the remaining requirements without any difficulty,” explains Marine Segment Manager Nikolas Schuster.
