New LNG car transporter for Sallaum Lines

The Belgian shipping company Sallaum Lines is renewing its fleet of car carriers. Sallaum Lines has taken delivery of the Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) “Ocean Explorer” as its latest vessel.

The Ocean-class ship is designed to meet current international environmental standards. To this end, it has an LNG dual-fuel propulsion system that is designed to significantly reduce CO₂, NOx, SOx and particulate emissions.

The “Ocean Explorer” was built at the Chinese shipyard Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding. It has an overall length of 199.90 m and a width of 38 m. The capacity of the PCTC is 7,500 Car Equivalent Units (CEU), which can be accommodated on 13 decks.

After the “Ocean Breeze”, the “Ocean Explorer” is Sallaum Lines’ second LNG-powered ship. According to Managing Director Hasan Sallaum, the company is taking “another bold step towards a more sustainable future of maritime transportation” with the acquisition of the “Ocean Explorer”. This vessel represents the company’s continued investment in clean technologies and its commitment to providing reliable, efficient and environmentally responsible transportation solutions to its partners, said Hasan Sallaum.
