Multi-purpose vessels equipped with Anschütz systems

The Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard is currently building three new multi-purpose vessels for German Waterways and Shipping Administration (WSV). The navigation equipment for the newbuildings is being supplied by the Kiel-based company Anschütz.

Anschütz has been awarded the contract to supply integrated navigation and bridge systems (INBS) for three new multi-purpose vessels. The first of these ships, the “Scharhörn”, has successfully completed a series of test runs and is about to be delivered.

Anschütz is equipping these ships with the Synapsis INBS. According to the manufacturer, Synapsis offers a high level of integration and automation and provides the crew with clear and accurate information about the maritime environment to support safe navigation, maneuvering and ship operations.

“Synapsis is an efficient, standardized integrated navigation system that we can adapt to specific customer requirements. Its modular architecture ensures uncomplicated and safe integration at all times and enables perfect adaptation to the wide range of applications of these vessels,” says Philip Kankelfitz, Head of Sales at Anschütz. “We are delighted to be involved in this ambitious project and are confident that Synapsis will exceed expectations in terms of reliability and functionality.”

The delivery includes six multifunctional Synapsis NX workstations, a high-precision autopilot and comprehensive navigation sensors. In addition, the system features a dynamic positioning system with a motion sensor that displays individual roll and pitch data on the conning display, an oil spill detection system integrated with the radar system via the CAT240 Asterix interface, and an interface to the sonar system. Together, these advanced functions ensure precise and safe navigation and ship management. Furthermore, an additional ECDIS is available as a modern version of a planning table, fully integrated with the bridge system.

According to Anschütz, this comprehensive bridge equipment meets the high requirements of the planned mission profile. The vessels are designed to perform a variety of tasks, including navigational aids maintenance, water police, pollution control, fire fighting and emergency response.
