The Chinese-Polish MPP shipping company Chipolbrok wants to benefit more from the economic development in the Middle East and is opening its own branch in Dubai.
The new office was officially opened during the “Breakbulk Middle East” trade fair. The state-owned joint venture announced that this was an important step in its expansion in the Middle East and beyond. “This strategic move strengthens Chipolbrok’s growing presence in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea region and supports key industries such as renewable energy and oil and gas,” it said.
With its base in project cargo transportation, Chipolbrok is well positioned to support the dynamic growth of the region.
Chipolbrok’ comprises 33 vessels
Chipolbrok was founded in 1951 and its current fleet comprises 33 vessels with a total of 1.2 million tdw. These include ten so-called “Orkan” types of 30,300 tdw each and four “Pacific” types (31,600 tdw). Newbuildings are also on the rise – even in the even larger segment beyond the 60,000 tdw mark.
The decision to open an office in Dubai was based, among other things, on the increasing involvement in large regional projects. The shipping company currently has a contract for the transportation of wind turbines for the prestigious NEOM project. In addition, Chipolbrok is involved in the delivery of project cargoes for the oil and gas sector in the Arabian Gulf.
The Dubai office will serve as a regional hub for activities in the Middle East, Africa (MEA) and the Indian subcontinent. At the helm are two experienced professionals: Marek Rzepiak, former Commercial Director of the Chipolbrok office in Shanghai and Deputy Shipping Director at Hongfa Shipping, and Jacob Xu, a long-time employee of Hongfa Shipping who most recently represented the company in Australia.
