Kongsberg Maritime goes public

Kongsberg Maritime is now listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. The technology company was spun off from Kongsberg Group at the beginning of the year.

The IPO had been planned since November last year and has now been completed. The company’s shares will be traded under the symbol KMAR from today. “This is a pivotal moment for Kongsberg Maritime,” said Lisa Edvardsen Haugan, CEO of the group, which specializes in marine technology. “We are opening a new chapter in a company built on over 200 years of innovation. On behalf of all my colleagues, I can say with certainty that we are ready to write the first chapter.”

Kongsberg Maritime has offices in 35 countries and employs more than 8,300 people worldwide. The customer base is made up of the commercial shipping, offshore, fishing and marine sectors.

“Our strength lies in our proximity to customers, our understanding of maritime operations and our ability to translate technology into real value at sea,” said Haugan. “As an independent company, we can sharpen our focus, act faster and accelerate our growth in key markets.”

According to Kongsberg Maritime, the shipping industry is undergoing rapid change, driven by digitalization, efficiency improvements and the transition to more sustainable operations. The company is ideally positioned to support customers in this transformation. The company’s solutions are in use on over 30,000 ships worldwide – around a third of the global fleet.

“We see a strong and sustained demand for solutions that improve safety, efficiency and sustainability,” continued Haugan. “Our goal is clear: we want to be a leading technology partner to the global shipping industry and drive innovation that makes a real difference for our customers.”

The company is going public “from a position of strength”: Kongsberg Maritime has a solid order book, strong market positions and a clear strategic direction. “This milestone is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our employees worldwide,” concluded CEO Haugan. “Together with our customers and partners, we look forward to continuing to push the boundaries of what is possible at sea.”
