Insolvent offshore specialist OIS becomes part of Conbit

The Dutch lifting specialist Conbit aims to become more involved in the German offshore wind market and is taking over the insolvent Rostock-based company OIS from the Krebs Group.

According to the Eindhoven-based specialist, it has started the process of acquiring “significant assets of OIS Offshore Industrie Service GmbH, including ISC Training & Assembly GmbH”. The entire business will remain fully operational during the transition and will be “seamlessly” integrated into the Conbit organization, according to a statement.

OIS had reportedly run into financial difficulties due to a single project, which ultimately led to insolvency proceedings. “Nevertheless, the company brings with it significant expertise, highly qualified employees and established operational structures,” the statement explains.

The transaction involves the OIS offshore portfolio in the areas of electrical engineering, mechanics and cranes, including maintenance, inspections and repairs. All activities of ISC, an accredited training provider, will also be taken over. No financial details were disclosed.

The Rostock site will apparently be retained. The future activities of OIS are to be managed there under a new company, as Rostock is seen as a “strategically important location for the offshore wind industry in the Baltic Sea”. The takeover also includes a site in Bockhorn near the German North Sea. Conbit intends to facilitate the rapid mobilization of personnel and equipment from there.

OIS will continue to be managed by Heiko Seefeldt, who has led the company as Managing Director for over a decade. “His extensive experience and long-standing customer relationships ensure stability and continuity,” said the Dutch company.
