HHLA earns more, but container throughput stagnates

Hamburg-based HHLA increased its consolidated revenue by 10.5% to € 1.6 billion in 2024. Profit climbed by almost a quarter to € 134 million.

Group-wide container throughput, on the other hand, stagnated. Last year there was only an increase of 0.9% to 5.97 million TEU, according to HHLA. At just under 5.7 million TEU, throughput at the Hamburg container terminals was almost on a par with the previous year. The transport volume in the Intermodal segment increased by 11.6% to 1.8 million TEU.

In the listed Port Logistics subgroup, revenue increased by 10.8% to € 1.56 million (previous year: € 1.4 million). The operating result (EBIT) increased by 26.8% to € 118 million (previous year: € 93 million).

Net profit after minority interests amounted to € 23 million (previous year: € 9 million). In addition to the strong increase in transport volumes at the Intermodal companies, the year-on-year rise in storage fees due to longer dwell times for containers handled at the Hamburg terminals had a positive impact on revenue and earnings in the financial year.

The annual report and the audited financial year figures for 2024 will be published on March 26.
