The Hamburg-based container liner shipping company Hapag-Lloyd is adjusting the management structure of its port subsidiary Hanseatic Global Terminals (HGT) in Europe and Latin America.
New CEOs for the two key shipping regions will be appointed at the brand, which was founded in 2023 for the terminal investment business. Mauricio Carrasco will take over as the new Regional CEO for Europe and will lead the company’s activities on the continent from March 15. Meanwhile, Rodrigo Galleguillos has been appointed as the new Head of Hanseatic Global Terminals Latin America, succeeding Mauricio Carrasco.
According to official statements, Hanseatic Global Terminals is pursuing “an ambitious vision of becoming a global terminal operator” and expanding its network to around 30 terminals by 2030. Most recently, there have been growth steps in the USA, Brazil and France.
Carrasco, an electrical civil engineer from the Universidad de Chile with an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, reportedly has “an extensive career in the global maritime port industry”. He has held senior management positions, including Managing Director of SAAM Terminals, Senior Director at Hapag-Lloyd in Dubai and Shanghai and Senior Vice President Business Development at Compañía Sudamericana de Vapores (CSAV).
Galleguillos is an industrial engineer from the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in Chile, with a master’s degree in finance from the same university and an MBA from Bond University (Australia). He has a solid track record in the maritime, port and logistics industry, where he has held various management positions in Latin America.
“These changes are part of our 2030 growth strategy, which aims to expand our global network, strengthen operational capabilities in key markets and work towards our goal of operating a total of 30 terminals by 2030. This new structure is designed to consolidate the company’s presence in both regions and accelerate the execution of our strategic plan,” said Dheeraj Bhatia, CEO Hanseatic Global Terminals.
