Capital Ship Management receives two new tankers

The shipping company Capital Ship Management, led by billionaire Evangelos Marinakis, has taken over the newbuildings “Aisopos” and “Aiolos”.

The two tankers were built by New Times Shipbuilding in China – they are the shipyard’s first vessels to fly the Greek flag.

The ships are crude oil/product tankers of 115,621 dwt each. They are said to meet stringent construction and maintenance standards designed to increase operational safety. They are also equipped with modern technology to meet environmental standards.

They are the first tanker newbuildings ever to be equipped with a certified AMP (Cold Ironing) and have a wave generator to improve EEDI, CII and DFOC. The vessels are IMO EEDI Phase III compliant and LNG capable, underlining their readiness for future energy conversions. They also feature energy-efficient equipment, including a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) for large pumps and fans, and a highly efficient rudder. In addition, they are certified by Loyd’s Register for cyber security.

Capital Ship Management has been on a growth trajectory for some time; last year, the shipping company took delivery of several new container vessels and ordered further new ships.
