Thomas Menzel is the new Head of the Marine Division at supplier Alfa Laval Mid Europe.

In his new role at Alfa Laval, the mechanical engineering graduate will continue to drive forward the topic of “sustainable shipping” for the Swedish company, which specializes in ballast water treatment systems, among other things.

Menzel has headed Alfa Laval’s marine division in the DACH region since April. The Swedish company supplies products and systems for the marine industry worldwide, including separators for purifying fuel, heat exchangers for producing fresh water and pump systems for purifying ballast water.

Alfa Laval relies on Menzel’s experience and network

The qualified mechanical engineer spent four years with the German Navy, then managed repairs on behalf of a global ship repair company and spent three years setting up a branch of the repair company in Doha, Qatar. He joined Alfa Laval in 2017 and has since made himself indispensable in the area of sales with a focus on sustainable product solutions, such as technologies for environmentally friendly fuels.

With his new position, Thomas Menzel will also be Alfa Laval’s German host at the SMM 2024 marine trade fair for the first time. He said of his new role: “I am looking forward to representing Alfa Laval in the marine division. We are not only a pioneer in environmentally friendly shipping concepts, but also have a powerful team – worldwide.” Sven Schreiber, Managing Director Alfa Laval Mid Europe, said of him: “We are sure that he will bring his sales experience, his extensive knowledge of the marine industry, his leadership skills and not least his large network to the new role very successfully.”

Founded 140 years ago, Alfa Laval employs more than 21,300 people and had annual sales of SEK 63.6bn (€5.5bn) in 2023. The company is listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm stock exchange.
