Paavo Nõgene, CEO of Tallink Grupp for eight years, will step down from his position in spring. A successor has not yet been appointed.
Tallink Grupp, which also includes the ferry operator Tallink Silja, informed the stock exchange of Nõgenes’ planned resignation. His last day as a member of the board will be May 22, 2026, the Estonia-based company announced.
“Paavo Nõgene has proven to be an exceptional leader of Tallink during the extremely difficult crisis years,” said Enn Pant, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Tallink Grupp. “I would like to thank him for his great commitment and contribution in steering the company through these difficult times. Tallink is in good shape and well positioned to move forward.”
“Every manager must ask themselves whether they still add value to the company or whether they might become an obstacle to future development,” said Nõgene himself. “After leading Tallink for eight years and guiding the company through three major crises – the pandemic, the war and the economic downturn in our region – it is time to pass on the baton so that a new leader can develop and guide Tallink.”
He thanked Tallink’s almost 5,000 employees, the managers in various areas and the Board of Directors. “Tallink is an exceptionally strong company with truly great employees. I have great respect for each and every one of them. I would also like to thank all the media for their constructive and positive cooperation.”
The Supervisory Board of Tallink Grupp announced that the search for a new CEO will begin immediately. The company recently published its balance sheet for the past year, which Nõgene described as “difficult” but, with reservations, satisfactory. Tallink recorded a net profit of €17.3 million.
