NOCC orders third dual fuel car carrier

The shipping company Norwegian Car Carriers (NOCC) has placed an order for a third LNG car carrier.

The ship will be built by the CIMC Raffles shipyard in China, which has also received the first orders. NOCC announced the signing of the contract on Linkedin, explaining that it intends to increase the company’s environmentally friendly fleet for the future. The new Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) will be equipped with a dual-fuel propulsion system so that it can run not only on LNG but also on ammonia. The ship is 199.9 m long and will have a capacity of 7,000 CEU.

According to reports, delivery of the transporter is scheduled for the end of 2027. Further details of the contract have not yet been made public.

The Oslo-based shipping company, which was founded in 2010, ordered two 7,000 CEU car carriers from CIMC Raffles in February. The ships are expected to be delivered in 2025 and 2026.
