Total Energies Lubmarine has launched ‘Aurelia FE’, a new lubricating oil designed to enable more efficient operation of 4-stroke marine engines.
Lubmarine’s lubricant technology is designed to offer a solution for greater energy efficiency, as fuel costs are the largest operating cost factor for most ships. The company promises savings of up to 1.5% in the standardised IMO E3 cycle (in accordance with the NOx Engineering Code) – at least according to laboratory tests. According to Lubmarine, practical tests suggest even greater savings under real-world operating conditions. The reduction in fuel consumption also leads to lower CO₂ emissions.
According to Lubmarine, Aurelia FE offers “immediate performance benefits” without requiring any technical modifications to the engine, vessel downtime or operational interruptions. The company draws on more than 100,000 hours of proven operational experience, as well as the industry’s first approval from a “leading global engine manufacturer”.
