Lehmann Marine supplies batteries for Italian ferries

Lehmann Marine, based in Seevetal near Hamburg, has been awarded the contract to supply battery systems for two new electric ferries.

The two ships will be built in Stralsund at the Ostseestaal shipyard. Lehmann Marine will supply its Cube batteries for the two newbuildings.

The approximately 26-meter-long catamarans are to be used on Lake Iseo in northern Italy. Up to 140 people and six bicycles can be transported on board the emission-free vessels.

The Iseo ferries each have two azimuth electric drives with an output of 100 kW each. The electrical energy is provided by our Cube battery system with a total capacity of around 750 kWh per ship and is recharged during the journey using shore power and solar modules. Delivery of the zero-emission ferries is planned for the end of this year.
