Crystal orders a third new cruise ship from Fincantieri

The US cruise line Crystal has placed a firm order for a third new-build vessel with the Italian shipbuilding group Fincantieri. The US company has converted an option agreed in 2024. The ship is scheduled for delivery in 2034.

The new vessel will be a sister ship to the “Crystal Grace”. The latter is currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera and is due to enter service in 2028. A further vessel in the series has been announced for May 2031.

Each of the three newbuilds is expected to have a gross tonnage of 62,000 and accommodate up to 650 guests on a double-occupancy basis. All cabins will be suites with balconies. According to the company, the ships will also feature a continuous promenade deck as well as several outdoor areas for dining and relaxation.

“The conversion of the agreement signed in 2024 into a firm order underlines the strong partnership we maintain with Crystal and the A&K Travel Group. At the same time, it symbolises our shared commitment to innovation, craftsmanship and excellence,” said Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager of the Merchant Ships Division at Fincantieri.

“We are delighted to continue designing a new generation of luxury ships, combining Italian shipbuilding expertise with Crystal’s uncompromising vision of exceptional hospitality at sea.”

Crystal has been part of the A&K Travel Group since 2023. According to Cristina Levis, CEO of the group, the response to the “Crystal Grace” so far has exceeded the company’s expectations. The order for the third ship is a response to the anticipated demand in the luxury cruise segment.
