Seatrium extends partnership with Carnival

The Singapore-based shipbuilding company Seatrium and Carnival Corporation have renewed their partnership. Over the coming years, Carnival will commission several ships to be serviced at Seatrium’s shipyards.

Carnival’s cruise ships have been serviced and modernised at Seatrium shipyards since 2010. This partnership is set to continue into the future, as both companies have now announced with the extension of the contract.

Under the “Favoured Customer Contract“ (FCC) agreement, Carnival Corporation is expected to bring a number of cruise ships to Seatrium’s shipyards in the coming years for statutory inspections, maintenance work, and improvements and modernisation. The contract covers ships from the cruise line’s global fleet, which comprises eight cruise brands, including Aida Cruises, Carnival Cruise Line, Costa Cruises, Cunard, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, P&O Cruises and Seabourn.

Under the new agreement, work is scheduled on three cruise ships in the fourth quarter of 2026: the “Royal Princess“ and the “Carnival Luminosa“ in October 2026, and the “Seabourn Encore“ in November 2026. Between 2027 and 2029, further Carnival Corporation cruise ships are expected to be serviced at Seatrium’s shipyards under this agreement.

The FCC agreement provides the strategic partners with planning certainty regarding the availability of shipyard berths at Seatrium, whilst offering the shipbuilding company long-term capacity utilisation prospects and opportunities for capacity optimisation.

Seatrium currently counts 22 FCC partners amongst its client base, including world-leading owners and operators of cruise ships, LNG tankers, offshore vessels, naval vessels and power-generating vessels.

“Carnival Corporation has been a cornerstone of Seatrium’s development in the cruise business and was our first strategic partner in this highly specialised segment as far back as 2010,” said Alvin Gan, Executive Vice President for Repairs and Modernisation at Seatrium. “Over the past 15 years, we have worked closely together to deliver a wide range of complex maintenance, modernisation and retrofit projects – always characterised by reliability in execution, quality craftsmanship and uncompromising safety standards. We are proud to support the company’s growth and ambitions, and we thank Carnival Corporation for the trust it has placed in us over the years and for the excellent collaboration.”

Vera Lannek, Vice President of Strategic Sourcing and Machinery Lifecycle Management at Carnival Corporation, added: “Seatrium is a valued partner of Carnival Corporation, having consistently demonstrated a high level of technical expertise, reliable project delivery and a strong commitment to quality and safety. When it comes to maintaining and developing our global fleet, it is crucial to work with partners who understand the demanding requirements of the cruise industry and can handle complex tasks efficiently, on time and to the highest standards. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Seatrium as we drive forward the long-term operational excellence of our brands and ships worldwide.”
