RoRo shipping company Sallaum Lines is expanding its fleet with the “Ocean Legacy”. The LNG ship is to be characterized by its long range and low emissions.
The new PCTC (Pure Car and Truck Carrier) follows just one month after Sallaum Lines put its sister ship “Ocean Explorer” into service. With the “Ocean Class” program, which so far includes three ships, the shipping company says it is focusing on modern tonnage, improved efficiency and environmentally friendly shipping.
The “Ocean Legacy” was built by China Merchants Jingling Shipyard. The ship is 199.9 m long and 37.7 m wide. It has a capacity of 7,400 CEU, spread over 13 cargo decks. The capacity of the LNG storage tanks is specified as 36 to 37.8 tons, which, according to Sallum, should ensure a greater range and reduced emissions on long-distance voyages.
The “Ocean Legacy” is equipped with a dual-fuel engine and, according to a statement from the shipping company, has energy-efficient design solutions that “go far beyond the legal requirements”. This is intended to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and pollutants while ensuring operational safety and fuel flexibility.
“The commissioning of the ‘MV Ocean Legacy’ is an important step in strengthening our fleet and improving its environmental footprint,” said Sami Sallaum, Chairman of Sallaum Lines. “This delivery underlines our continued investment in modern vessels that reduce emissions and increase operational efficiency. It also supports our goal of providing reliable shipping services while adapting to changing regulatory and industry requirements.”
Together with its sister ships “Ocean Breeze” and “Ocean Explorer”, the new “Ocean Legacy” is part of the next generation of Sallaum PCTCs. The series will comprise a total of six vessels. Optimized hull shapes, advanced automation and flexible cargo configurations are designed to improve the efficiency and operational performance of the shipping company.
