Hapag-Lloyd and Ankeri become strategic partners

The Hamburg-based container liner shipping company Hapag-Lloyd wants to accelerate the decarbonization of its fleet through a strategic partnership with the software company Ankeri Solutions.

The Icelandic software company Ankeri specialises in decarbonization solutions for the shipping industry. The company is now to provide Hapag-Lloyd with “a comprehensive suite of tools” to streamline and accelerate the decarbonization process for the Hamburg-based shipping company’s fleet. [ds_preview]

Ankeri’s technology has been in use since 2018 and, according to the shipping company, enables it to assess, optimise and monitor various aspects of the energy efficiency of its fleet of 264 container ships and a total transport capacity of 2 million TEU, thus helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Arne Maibohm, Director Decarbonization at Hapag-Lloyd: “This collaboration is a significant step in our continuous efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of our fleet and is in line with our goal to become carbon-free by 2045. By integrating Ankeri’s cutting-edge digital tools, we aim to make a significant contribution to more sustainable ship operations.”
