The Finnish company Wärtsilä is selling its Automation, Navigation and Control System (ANCS) division.
According to a press release from the listed group, the Swedish investment company Solix Group is taking over Wärtsilä’s ANCS segment. “Subject to approvals”, the transaction is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2025.
ANCS is a provider of hardware and software technologies for marine navigation and automation. Its solutions include integrated navigation and automation systems, advanced sensors that improve safety and situational awareness, and dynamic positioning systems that enable the precise positioning of vessels. Wärtsilä acquired ANCS in 2015 as part of Marine Systems International. In 2023, the annual turnover of ANCS was almost €200m.
Wärtsilä separates
In the recent past, the Finnish company had already divested several segments and business areas. For example, the cargo tank measurement business was sold to Denmark. A propeller foundry in Spain and several German subsidiaries were also sold, including Euroatlas, Funa from Emden, Jovyatlas and Elac Nautik from Kiel. All were added to the portfolio through the L-3 takeover.
Tamara de Gruyter, President, Portfolio Business and Executive Vice President, Wärtsilä says of the transaction: “Having worked with Solix on some of our previous divestitures, I am confident that ANCS will have a solid owner and a great environment to continue to lead the company to success independently. This will benefit customers, partners and the highly skilled employees of ANCS.”
