“Viking Vesta” launched at Fincantieri

The Italian shipbuilding group Fincantieri has launched its latest cruise ship. It is the relatively small “Viking Vesta”, which is being built for the Viking shipping company.

Torstein Hagen, President and CEO of Viking, and Gilberto Tobaldi, Director of the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, also attended the launch at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona. Following this “significant moment” in the shipbuilding process, the final outfitting phase is now set to begin. Delivery is planned for summer 2025. After that, “Viking Vesta” will operate in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.

The ship will be in the small ship market segment. It will have a gross tonnage of around 54,300, be equipped with 499 cabins and be able to accommodate 998 passengers on board. Together with its sister ship “Viking Vela”, it will be one of a series of 18 cruise ships built for the Fincantieri shipping company.

The collaboration will continue: Fincantieri and Viking recently signed a contract for the construction of two more new sister ships to the “Viking Vesta”.
