The Greek shipping company Venergy Maritime is expanding its fleet with new tankers in the Suezmax size class. They will be built at the Chinese shipyard Hengli Shipbuilding and delivered from the end of 2028.
Venergy Maritime is making further inroads into the crude oil tanker market. The Piraeus-based company is expanding its fleet with two Suezmax tankers on firm order. The Greek company has also secured options for two further vessels. According to market reports, they will each have a carrying capacity of 158,000 tdw. The shipyard is Hengli Shipbuilding in Dalian, China. The ships on firm order are scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2028, while the options could follow as early as 2029.
The shipping company Venergy, led by Vyron Vasileiadis, has recently pursued an aggressive expansion strategy. The company has already ordered new tankers from Asian shipyards in the past, but is pursuing a broad-based approach – both in terms of ship types and construction yards. Among other things, Venergy has placed orders for MR2 product tankers with K Shipbuilding in South Korea, LR2 orders with New Times Shipbuilding and Suezmax newbuildings with Hengli, CSSC Guangzhou and Shanghai Waigaoqiao.
Venergy – part of the Vasileiadis Group (V.Group), which is also Greek – has awarded contracts with a total value of over 1.5 billion dollars over the past year. They currently comprise 28 ships (excluding options). The company recently added to this by exercising its options at K Shipbuilding, where a total of eight new vessels will be built for Venergy over the next few years. While the company, which was founded in 2021, focuses primarily on the tanker market, the shipping company has also ordered feeder container ships of 1,900 TEU each from CSSC Huangpu Wenchong.
