The Norwegian shipbuilding company Vard, a subsidiary of Fincantieri, has received an order from Navigare Capital Partners for Norwind Offshore.
Two additional options have also been agreed upon: one can be exercised this year, and the second in 2025. The agreement was reached in close cooperation with both partners and continues the shipbuilding and design company’s long-standing relationship with Norwind. The new CSOV is the first option to be exercised under an agreement signed in March 2024.
Vard to deliver new CSOV in 2027
The vessel, which is based on the design of the “Vard 4 19”, is scheduled for delivery from the shipyard in Vung Tau, Vietnam, in the second quarter of 2027. It will be Vard’s sixth CSOV for Norwind Offshore. The 85 m long and 19.5 m wide vessel can accommodate 87 people.
It will also be equipped with “advanced technical systems”, according to the parent company Fincantieri. These will include a height-adjustable gangway with motion compensation and an elevator system, a 3D crane and a boat mooring system, which will also be height-adjustable. Operation will be supported by “advanced battery systems” to minimize CO2 emissions.
Vard has many years of experience in building offshore vessels, with new orders including CSOVs for a Taiwanese customer. The company also recently received an order from Island Offshore for another Ocean Energy Construction Vessel (OECV).
