US cruise line surprisingly ceases operations

The American cruise line Alaskan Dream Cruises has withdrawn from the market. All upcoming cruises have been canceled.

“With immediate effect”, Alaskan Dream Cruises has ceased operations, the shipping company announced on its own website. There will be no future cruises in Alaskan waters. According to the company, this is a strategic move.

“This decision was deliberate and necessary,” said owner Jamey Cagle. “After careful consideration of our long-term goals, we concluded that discontinuing cruise operations would allow us to responsibly allocate our resources where they will have the greatest impact. We are deeply grateful to our guests for the trust they have placed in us over the past 15 years. It has been an honor to share the wonders of Alaska and the richness of our indigenous heritage with wonderful passengers from around the world. It has been a pleasure to work with extraordinary communities, partners and crew members along the way.”

Founded in 2011, the cruise line is part of Allen Marine, a major player in the Alaska cruise market. Alaskan Cruise Lines is, by its own account, an indigenous shipping company and was run by members of the Tlingit people, who are indigenous to Alaska. The Sitka-based company specialized in operating small ships. The fleet comprised the four ships “Chichagof Dream”, “Admiralty Dream”, “Alaskan Dream” and “Baranof Dream” with space for a maximum of around 80 passengers.

“Guests with existing reservations or their travel agents have been notified of next steps and refunds directly via email,” the company said. Allen Marine’s operations will not be affected by the closure.
