The marine insurer UK P&I Club has appointed Jeong-Sook Kim as its new Senior Underwriting Director. She will initially be responsible for the Korean market.
Based at the Club’s London office, Kim will work closely with William Beveridge (Chief Underwriting Officer) and the Asia-Pacific regional management team. In her new role, she will help shape and implement the Club’s underwriting strategy and strengthen its presence, reputation and membership base in the Korean market, the Club announced.
A qualified lawyer and an ‘Associate’ of the Chartered Insurance Institute, Kim has more than 30 years’ experience in insurance brokerage, underwriting and legal practice across Asia, including in Korea, Japan and Vietnam. “She possesses specialist knowledge of P&I and FD&D insurance, maintains long-standing relationships with members and brokers, and has a proven track record in business development and client management in both the Korean and wider Asian markets,” says UK P&I.
Having previously held senior positions in the P&I market and most recently worked as a Senior Associate in the shipping-specialist team at the law firm Campbell Johnston Clark, Ms Kim brings a unique combination of market knowledge, business acumen and legal expertise. Her extensive experience will further strengthen the Club’s ability to support members and brokers.
“The UK P&I Club is delighted to welcome Jeong-Sook Kim as Senior Underwriting Director,” said Chief Underwriting Officer William Beveridge. “Her appointment reflects our long-term commitment to the Korean market and underlines the strategic importance of Korea to the UK Club’s growth plans in the Asia-Pacific region. Her experience in the Korean and international shipping markets, as well as the strong relationships she has built up over the course of her career, are invaluable as we continue to expand our presence in the region and, in particular, in Korea.”
