TT-Line is entering the ferry market between Finland and Estonia. In partnership with Viking Line, the shipping company plans to launch a service between Vuosaari, near Helsinki, and Muuga, near Tallinn, from the first quarter of 2027.
The two companies intend to operate the route jointly using a RoPax vessel. The specific ferry to be deployed is due to be announced in November. Through this partnership, TT-Line is expanding its route network for the first time to include a connection between Finland and Estonia. The service is aimed at both freight customers and passengers.
In addition to the planned service between Vuosaari and Muuga, TT-Line will offer its freight customers transport options on the “Viking XPRS” between the ports of Helsinki and Tallinn.
Partnership aims to strengthen freight business
TT-Line CEO Bernhard Termühlen describes the agreement as an important milestone for the further development of freight transport on the Baltic Sea. “We look forward to a successful collaboration and to jointly developing the long-term potential of this route.”
Viking Line also sees the partnership as a means of expanding its freight business. “Through this partnership, we are strengthening our position in the freight sector whilst also laying the foundations for developing a competitive, long-term alternative on the Vuosaari–Muuga route,” explained Marcus Risberg, President and CEO of Viking Line.
According to its own figures, TT-Line currently operates a fleet of nine vessels and offers up to 24 sailings a day. The existing network connects Travemünde and Rostock, Świnoujście in Poland and Klaipėda in Lithuania with the Swedish ports of Trelleborg and Karlshamn.
