Top Ships secures charter extension for US$100m

Top Ships, a Greek owner and operator of tankers, has chartered out two of its eco-ships on a long-term basis at a record rate.

The charter contracts for the 50,000-ton tankers “Eco Yosemite Park” and “Eco Joshua Park” have been extended for seven years. The company’s subsidiaries own 50% of the vessels, while the other 50% is owned by a subsidiary of the Gunvor Group, an oil trading group based in Cyprus.

Almost US$20,000 a day for Top Ships

The charter contracts will commence on 1 August 2024 at a daily rate of US$19,500 gross, an increase of 12% over the current rate. The vessels are chartered to Gunvor subsidiary Clearlake Shipping.

All other terms remain as in the current contracts, including the charterers’ option to extend each time charter for a further two years. The expected revenues of the two subsidiaries from these charters amount to approximately US$100m for the fixed period.
