Strategic Marine builds ship for Amarco

The Singapore-based shipyard Strategic Marine has received an order from the Bruneian shipping company Amarco to build a new crew transfer vessel.

This is a so-called fourth-generation Fast Crew Boat (FCB). The shipbuilding contract stipulates that the vessel will be prepared for the installation of a gyro stabilizer and that there is an option for the installation of a motion-compensated gangway as a future option, according to a statement from Strategic Marine.

The vessel will also be equipped for a plug-and-play hybrid system that will allow certain operating profiles to be carried out solely on battery power.

The 42 m long vessel is equipped with a triple Baudouin 12M26.3s propulsion system combined with ZF3050 gearboxes and is expected to reach a vessel speed of more than 27.5 knots.

Other features include an external firefighting system and an oil dispersion system designed to enhance the vessel’s firefighting and oil spill response capabilities.

The fourth-generation FCB will also be fitted with a cruise-like interior that includes larger windows, reclining chairs with tray tables and USB chargers for all passengers.

“We are delighted and honored to have been selected for this prestigious project with Amarco Sdn Bhd, which will serve the demanding Bruneian offshore oil and gas sector. We are grateful for the trust placed in us and look forward to deploying the vessel in 2024,” said Chan Eng Yew, Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Marine.
