Flagship Founders has spun off its fifth startup, Sealenic. The AI assistant is already being used by well-known shipping companies.
Sealenic’s virtual AI assistant will help teams on board and ashore to find and interpret information from a variety of sources. This should speed up and simplify complex work processes in the future. [ds_preview]
The shipping companies F. Laeisz, Fairplay Towage Group and Harren Ship Management are on board as development partners and are already testing the solution during operation. Their feedback will help to further develop and optimise the solution. The launch of the software for the wider market is planned for the summer.
AI assistant makes searching as easy as Google
Teams on board and ashore need constant access to a wide range of information in order to keep ship operations safe and efficient. This includes, for example, safety procedures, checklists, machine manuals and legal regulations, which also change frequently.
This information is usually spread across thousands of documents in various formats such as PDF, email or paper, which makes searching time-consuming. This information also needs to be interpreted and understood. Sealenic aims to solve this problem.
Fifth spin-off from Flagship Founders
The start-up, led by founder and Managing Director Billel Ridelle, is currently building a platform for information retrieval and management that should work as easily as a Google search. Sealenic uses AI technology and works with large language models (LLMs) such as Open AI. Users of the software can simply enter their questions into a search mask and receive a comprehensible and reliable answer, including the source information.
The system is based on publicly available knowledge (BIMCO, IMO, EU and state law data), but is also designed in such a way that private company data can be integrated.
