Consolidation among ship managers continues: Intership Navigation and Interorient Shipmanagement are merging in Cyprus.
Intership Navigation, founded in 1988, was formerly part of the Hartmann Group from Leer before the ship management activities were sold as part of a management buy-out last year. Dieter Rohdenburg, CEO for 13 years at the time, had acquired the majority stake in Intership Navigation and its subsidiaries Donnelly Tanker Management and Hartmann Crew Philippines.
Now Intership and Interorient Shipmanagement are merging. The newly formed company will manage a fleet of over 170 vessels, including tankers, gas carriers, bulkers, container ships, multipurpose vessels and other specialised vessels.
InterMaritime brings together Intership and Interorient
Technical and crew management, chartering, procurement, catering, insurance, voyages, chartering and other commercial activities will be offered under the new name InterMaritime.
“The merger brings together the expertise, resources and geographical presence of both partners,” says Rohdenburg.
“This merger is a testament to our shared values and vision for the future. We are confident that together InterMaritime Shipmanagement will set new benchmarks in the industry and provide the highest standards of service and operational efficiency,” added Themis Papadopoulos, CEO of Interorient Shipmanagement.
This continues the trend of consolidation among ship managers. OSM recently acquired Thome Klaveness Ship Management.
