Under the motto “At your side at every stage”, Schottel will present integrated propulsion solutions for the maritime industry at SMM 2026. The company will showcase technologies and services covering every stage of a vessel’s lifecycle, from design and integration to operation, modernisation and after-sales support.
A key highlight will be the new PropControl 4 propulsion control system. Designed for azimuth thrusters, transverse thrusters and CPP shaftlines, the system combines a compact user interface with enhanced thrust control, haptic feedback and an integrated Push-to-Talk function. It complies with current cybersecurity requirements in accordance with IACS UR E27 and IEC 62443-3 and features redundant components to enable seamless switchover to a backup control system. As part of Schottel’s Smart Thruster Platform, PropControl 4 is intended to support long-term lifecycle management. Visitors will be able to experience the system on an interactive demonstrator.
The company will also present scale models of its propulsion systems, including the Schottel EcoPeller SRE. According to Schottel, the hydrodynamically optimised design is intended to provide high steering forces together with improved efficiency and course-keeping performance. Recent applications include a naval rescue vessel and the modernisation of Norwegian ferries.
Together with its sister company Elkon, Schottel will also showcase integrated solutions for the generation, distribution, storage and management of electrical energy on board, with a focus on hybrid and electric propulsion concepts.
Another focus will be Schottel’s after-sales service. The company supports customers through a global network of more than 100 sales and service locations, over 170 service technicians, training centres and repair workshops.
