Remontowa delivers new mine countermeasure ship to Polish Navy

A christening ceremony and the launch of the fifth Kormoran II-class mine countermeasure vessel took place at Remontowa Shipbuilding in Gdańsk.

The vessel, which measures 58.5 metres in length and 10.3 metres in width, has been named “Rybitwa”.

“We are proud that, as Remontowa Shipbuilding, we actively contribute to strengthening the capabilities of our Navy. The delivery of nine ships in recent years—including three minehunters and six auxiliary tugboats—demonstrates that our commitment to ensuring high technical sophistication and timely delivery is yielding tangible results,” emphasised Dariusz Jaguszewski, CEO of Remontowa Shipbuilding.

“The Rybitwa vessel enhances the Navy’s capabilities and directly contributes to the country’s overall resilience. We are not only increasing the strength of our naval forces but also implementing modern technologies to address contemporary threats at sea,” said Rear Admiral Jarosław Ziemiański, Inspector of the Polish Navy.

Remontowa to export Kormoran II-class vessels

During the ceremony, representatives of Remontowa Shipbuilding, Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, PGZ Stocznia Wojenna, and Centrum Techniki Morskiej signed a letter of intent to collaborate on offering Kormoran II-class vessels to international customers. This agreement establishes an institutional framework for conducting joint export projects targeting markets within the European Union, NATO, and allied nations.
