ONE is restructuring its network in Asia and Africa

The Singapore-based container shipping line will merge its regional headquarters for East and South Asia in Singapore with effect from 1 April 2027. At the same time, Dubai will take over responsibility for the markets in East, West and South Africa.

Ocean Network Express (ONE) is reorganising the regional management of its business in Asia and Africa. From April 2027, the shipping company will consolidate its regional headquarters for East and South Asia – previously based in Hong Kong and Singapore – into a single Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore. This headquarters will be responsible for 15 markets. Louis Tang will take over as head of the organisation.

At the same time, ONE is consolidating the management of the markets in East, West and South Africa within the regional headquarters in Dubai. London will remain responsible for Europe, the Mediterranean and North Africa.

With these changes, the shipping company aims to streamline decision-making processes and facilitate further growth. “Asia-Pacific and Africa are key growth regions for ONE,” said CEO Till Ole Barrelet. The new structure is also intended to support further investment in both regions.

According to Tang, the future head of Asia-Pacific, the joint headquarters will provide a more comprehensive overview of the region. Customers transporting cargo between East and South Asia will in future be served by a single team.

According to Sundeep Sibal, Regional Head for West Asia, the Dubai headquarters already manages a large proportion of ONE’s business between Africa and Asia, India and the Middle East. In future, a single team will coordinate services and capacity along this entire trade corridor.

The reorganisation will be implemented in stages. Initially, the existing teams will continue to work in their current roles under the new structure. Subsequently, tasks and responsibilities will be further harmonised. According to the company, the range of services, customer contracts and day-to-day operations will remain unchanged for the time being. The local teams will continue to be the customers’ points of contact.

The reorganisation is part of the company’s “One 2030” strategy. According to ONE, the company operates more than 280 vessels with a total capacity of over 2.2 million TEU and serves more than 120 countries.
