Norden names Christian Antonsen to lead dry bulk business

The Danish shipping company Norden has appointed Christian Antonsen as its new Head of Drybulk, Project and Parcelling. He joins the company from the agricultural group Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), where he currently serves as Global Ocean Freight Director, Chartering.

Antonsen will take up his new role on January 1, succeeding Rasmus Saltofte, whose departure was announced earlier this year.

Norden, which operates a fleet of more than 400 vessels, runs two main divisions: Freight Services & Trading (FST), where Antonsen will be based, and a tanker pool with around 100 ships. The FST division also includes the multipurpose (MPP) business, expanded through the acquisition of Thorco.

As Head of Drybulk, Antonsen will oversee a 100-strong team and manage a fleet of approximately 300 vessels, ranging from project and general cargo carriers to Capesize bulkers.

“Christian comes from one of our most important customers, and we are very excited about the expertise, leadership skills and strategic mindset he brings to our trading business,” said Anne Jensen, COO of Norden. “As an experienced dry cargo executive who embodies our values and goals, Christian will strengthen our customer offering and help differentiate us from competitors by leveraging data, thinking creatively and implementing new, innovative processes.”

In his new role, Antonsen will also help drive Norden’s overall strategic direction and customer focus, collaborating closely with other divisions such as Tankers and Logistics to create synergies across the organization.
