The world’s largest container shipping company celebrated the start of construction of its new German headquarters with a ground-breaking ceremony.
The construction of the new building in Hamburg’s Hafencity was heralded in with numerous guests. For Nils Kahn, Managing Director of MSC Germany, the ground-breaking ceremony marked more than just the start of construction. Rather, it was “an expression of our commitment to Hamburg and Germany”. MSC has a special history with Hamburg. The shipping company bought its first container ship here in 1970. According to Kahn, this marked the beginning of the Italian shipping company’s success story.
In future, all MSC Germany employees will work together under one roof at the new location. The company currently employs around 300 people. In future, the company intends to continue to grow at its German headquarters.
Hamburg’s Senator for Economics and Innovation, Melanie Leonhard, was also present at the ground-breaking ceremony. She was delighted that the world’s largest shipping company had made a long-term commitment to Hamburg.
