Michaël Miramond becomes Chief Digital Officer at MSC

MSC has officially welcomed Michaël Miramond as its new Chief Digital & Innovation Officer. The manager joined the shipping company in January 2026 and was previously Group Chief Digital Officer at CMA CGM for five years.

The world’s largest shipping company, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), has officially introduced Michaël Miramond as its new Chief Digital & Innovation Officer. He has been working for the shipping company since January 2026. The manager succeeds André Simha at MSC. The company thanked Simha for his many years of work and the digital foundation he has built at MSC.

Digitalization is a high priority for MSC, as MSC CEO Soren Toft emphasized in a LinkedIn post. It should help to further develop customer service and the operation of the global network without losing the personal contact that characterizes the company and its culture.

Miramond brings experience from the shipping, logistics and technology sectors. Before joining MSC, he was Group Chief Digital Officer at CMA CGM for five years. There he worked on accelerating innovation and digital transformation within the Group. He was also responsible for data science as well as IT, digital and data for the international divisions.

Prior to that, Miramond held various local and global leadership positions in sales and consulting at IBM for more than 20 years. His focus was on the distribution industry, in particular retail, luxury, wholesale and consumer products. As Vice President and Managing Director of IBM Corporation, he led the global Carrefour account teams and worldwide sales for this client. He also worked in business development for the Global Consumer Industry, focusing on major transformation projects in retail, consumer products, wholesale and agribusiness.

Maritime Future Summit focuses on AI

The digital transformation of shipping is increasingly taking center stage. The leading maritime trade fair SMM is focusing on this with the Maritime Future Summit (MFS), which will take place on September 2 as an open-stage conference in the exhibition area. The focus will be on the growing role of generative AI in shipping – for example in ship design, operation and fleet efficiency.

Practical applications such as digital twins, intelligent classification, autonomous systems and large language models will be discussed. The summit will be moderated by Volker Bertram from the World Maritime University and Michael Meyer from HANSA.
