Long-standing Hapag-Lloyd manager becomes COO at CLdN

Cameron Bowie is to become the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) of CLdN Shipping. The experienced liner shipping manager comes from the Hamburg-based shipping company Hapag-Lloyd, where he has worked for 36 years.

Shortsea shipping company CLdN, part of the Cobelfret Group, has appointed Cameron Bowie as the new Chief Operating Officer of CLdN Shipping. According to a statement from the Belgian shipping company, the manager will take up his new position on July 13. With this appointment, CLdN is bringing on board a long-standing manager from the container liner shipping industry. Bowie has worked for the long-established Hamburg-based shipping company Hapag-Lloyd for 36 years, during which time he has held various management positions in Europe, Asia and the USA.

After holding positions in Singapore, Taiwan, New Jersey, Chicago and London, among others, he has managed Hapag-Lloyd’s business in the UK and Ireland since 2008. He has also been Senior Vice President since 2019.

CLdN points to Bowie’s experience in the maritime transportation industry. This is particularly relevant as the company looks to expand its shortsea container shipping activities and strengthen its presence in the UK, Ireland and Continental Europe trades.

Bowie succeeds Gary Walker, who has been COO of CLdN Shipping for many years. Walker will leave the company in the summer and retire. He has been with CLdN since 1997 and has been responsible for the company’s shipping activities for the past twelve years. During this time, CLdN has significantly expanded its shipping activities.

Founded in 1929, the shipping company operates shortsea connections between the European continent, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Iberian Peninsula and Scandinavia with 30 ships and more than 200 departures per week. The RoRo ships are mainly used to transport vehicles as well as heavy-lift and MPP cargoes. New RoRo vessels are also joining the fleet.
