Lauritzen buys breakbulk specialist Alexander & Blake

The Danish shipping company Lauritzen Bulkers has taken over the company Alexander & Blake.

The company, based in Burlington, Canada, specializes in breakbulk and project cargo. Operations are to continue seamlessly.

Lauritzen, based in Copenhagen, has a fleet of 90 to 110 Handysize and Ultramax vessels. The acquisition of Alexander & Blake will add valuable expertise and strong customer relationships in America to the charter and freight offering, the company announced. A purchase price was not disclosed.

“The discussions we have had with the Alexander & Blake team over the past few months have confirmed their outstanding capabilities and how they will add value to Lauritzen Bulkers’ global shipping services from day one,” said Rasmus Francis Jensen, Vice President of Chartering and Lauritzen Bulkers Parcel Service.

The Canadian shipping company has been in the market for more than 30 years. Its activities are focused on the North and South American region. Ongoing operations and existing customer contracts will be continued under the name “Alexander & Blake – by Lauritzen Bulkers”. All employees will be taken on.
