Following the conversion of the Södertälje locks, the company plans to expand its services to include additional connections to Västerås by 2026, according to a statement.
Built in 1999, the “Lakeway Express” has an overall length of 153.38 m, a GT of 10,471 and a loading capacity of 1,624 lane meters or approx. 110 trailers.
“Lakeway Express” as an alternative to road transportation
“I am very pleased to inform you that our planned service between Poland and Sweden will now start as announced. We are very ambitious to launch this new service, which will not only enable efficient transportation, but also reduce the environmental impact of using the waterways,” says Fredrik Hermansson, CEO of Lakeway Link.
By introducing a regular liner service with fixed departures that includes traditional RoRo services for trailers and efficient transshipment of shipments, Lakeway Link says it offers “a robust alternative or complement to road and rail transport”.
“Lakeway Link is ready to streamline and improve transportation between Sweden and Poland with a reliable and environmentally competitive solution for our customers,” Hermansson added.
