On 1 July, Kevin Price took up his post as the new president of the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA). In August next year, he will take over the role of CEO from Griff Lynch who will then retire.
Price had already been announced as the new chairman of the Port Authority back in February, and he has now taken up the post. He will report to Lynch before succeeding him as CEO with effect from 1 August 2027.
“I am delighted for our staff and all our stakeholders, as Kevin is the ideal candidate to take the GPA and our team to the next level,” said Lynch. The outgoing CEO looks back on a 38-year career in the maritime industry, 15 of which he spent at the GPA.
“I look forward to building on GPA’s tremendous momentum and working closely with the GPA team, customers and business partners to continually raise our performance standards,” said Price on the occasion of his appointment.
“Kevin understands that the success of Georgia Ports is based on long-term decisions, investment and operational excellence – factors that represent a key economic driver for the ‘Peach State’ and the South-East region,” added Alec Poitevint, Chairman of the GPA Board. “The Board is confident that, through his collaborative leadership style and customer focus, Kevin will ensure that Georgia Ports continues to lead the way in innovation and growth within our industry.”
Price brings more than 30 years’ operational experience to Georgia Ports. Before joining GPA, he served as President of Gateway Terminals in Savannah; prior to that, he worked as COO of Virginia International Terminals and held various senior management positions within the port and terminal industry. Throughout his career, he has served on numerous boards and committees and completed “The Executive Programme” at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
GPA operates two major ports in the state of Georgia on the US east coast: the Port of Savannah and the Port of Brunswick, which specialises in breakbulk and RoRo cargo.
