The Dutch shipping company Jumbo – alliance partner of the German shipping company SAL – has received an important order from South America for its offshore division.

The subsidiary Jumbo Offshore Installation Contractors was commissioned by the platform operator Modec Guyana to transport and “pre-install” the mooring of the FPSO “Errea Wittu”.

The project is located off the coast of Guyana – a market that is being followed with great interest in the offshore and heavy lift industry due to the potential of the local oil industry.

The floating production and storage platform “Errea Wittu” will have a storage capacity of 2 million barrels of oil. It is expected to produce around 250,000 barrels of oil per day and have a gas processing capacity of 540 million cubic feet per day.

The Modec Group was awarded a contract for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the FPSO in May 2023 after the energy company ExxonMobil made a final investment decision for the so-called “Uaru” project. The FPSO mooring system will be supplied by SOFEC, a Modec Group company, and consists of a total of nineteen mooring legs.

Jumbo deploys “Fairplayer

JumboOffshore intends to use the heavy lift construction vessel “Fairplayer” for the project, which will enable the transportation and installation of the 19 suction anchors, 8,800 m of chain sections and 43,168 m of polyester rope “in a minimum number of installation trips” and thus simplify the logistics, the Dutch company has now announced.

Igor Rijnberg, Head of Sales and Business Development Subsea at Jumbo Offshore, said: “We will use the experience we have gained in recent years in the installation of deep-sea moorings to ensure reliable, intelligent and efficient project execution.”
