The Jumbo Group – which also cooperates with the German shipping company SAL – has appointed a new representative for the “Middle East” region for the offshore heavy-lift business.

The Dutch shipping company Jumbo has signed a corresponding agreement with Sea Horizon Offshore Marine Services [ds_preview]. With this agreement, Sea Horizon Offshore will become the representative of Jumbo Offshore in the Middle East region, Jumbo announced today.

Sea Horizon Offshore Marine is a private company headquartered in Qatar, specializing in offshore marine solutions, consultancy, ship ownership and chartering in the region. Its customer base is primarily in the region’s oil/gas markets.

The company will represent Jumbo Offshore with its broad network of local partners to potential clients in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar and Saudi Arabia, the statement said. Sea Horizon Offshore’s responsibilities also include commercial representation, operational support and project management.

Jumbo to deploy J-Class

The MoU is intended to pave the way for Jumbo Offshore to increase its support for the significant offshore expansion planned in the region in the coming years, the Dutch company writes, adding: “Through this MoU, we will provide the region with better access to safe, high-quality transportation and installation solutions”.

Currently, much of the transportation and installation work in the region is carried out by a combination of barge and jack-up vessels. Jumbo Offshore’s vessels, on the other hand, are “ideally suited to carry out the entire T&I sector from a single platform, which means a significant increase in efficiency.” The fleet, which includes the J-class vessels with a lifting capacity of 1,800 tons, will support the regional offshore development with topside construction, light flex-lay, mooring installation and module installation, among others.
